We are the tiny, historic village of Ridsdale in the beautiful Northumberland uplands on the A68 Roman road. Its February 2020. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TODAY.
Over the last 30 years we have lost our Post Office, our Shop, and our Village Hall. Our pub - The Gun Inn - is the centre of our village. It is our meeting place, our venue for community events and celebrations, a boon for our older residents and, in short, is the lifeline of our village and much much more than just a pub. But now we may lose this too.
The current owners are retiring and no one has come forward to buy the pub. It is in danger of being turned into a house. So we want to buy it. We need to buy it.
...and we are sincerely hoping you can help.
We need over £200,000. We are making applications for funding support from various bodies towards our target. But primarily we are selling shares so that we can invest our own money to buy the pub as a truly community venture. But we are a tiny village and there simply aren't enough of us.
It doesn't matter where you are in the world, we are today inviting you to buy shares, take part ownership in our pub, have voting rights and help a community keep its lifeline (so you get to feel really good about it too!).
For as little as £500 you can buy shares and part own a British Pub - feel good and help save our community space at the same time. If you are in the UK the shares are also subject to 30% tax relief after 3 years of ownership.
There is also an "Any Other Amount" box on the Pledge page if you would like to help but don't want shares - any amount very gratefully received!
We don't need your money straight away but we do need your firm pledge now,
Do you have a place where you go to meet friends, family, have a coffee, a drink, a chat? Please help us have that place too.
No community owned pub has ever gone bankrupt in England, they work really well - but we need to buy it first!
