We love our village and the peace, tranquility and quality of life it allows and encourages. This area allows you to breathe and to relax.

We want you to love it too.

We want others to experience our glorious setting, our empty roads, our wildlife and our history - if only for a few days or a few hours. This really is a very special place which epitomises wonderful wild Northumberland.

We are only a few hundred yards from the stunning Northumberland National Park.

Intriguing historic connections to William Armstrong (he is why the village exists), the iron industry (iron for the High Level bridge in Newcastle came from Ridsdale) and the famous Cragside House at Rothbury make our immediate area an enthralling and exhilarating place to spend time.

And with a Community Owned Pub, great fun too!

Our vision for you - come and stay at our Community Owned Pub in 2020 - you will be so very welcome.

Enjoy great food, great beers and wines. Chat with us. Meet the characters! Relax and have fun.

While you are here, travel north and stop at the Scottish Border to enjoy the stunning views. Head back, stopping off in Bellingham (pronounced Belling-jum) for lunch in a converted 1953 railway carriage (first class!) and maybe a walk to the sensational waterfall at Hareshaw Linn.

Take the scenic route back to Ridsdale (no problem because they are all scenic) and take in the village history.

Enjoy a fabulous meal at The Gun and then maybe head to Kielder Observatory for an evening gazing in awe at the cosmos, facilitated by the designation as a Dark Sky Area. Truly magical and an amazing experience (even if star spotting isn't normally your thing).

Fishing on Sweethope Lough? Go for a walk over the Wannies? Visit the pretty market towns of Hexham and Corbridge? Or take a walk along the famous Hadrians Wall and visit the truly exciting forts.

Or just sit with us and a book enjoying a drink or two, taking in the famous Northumberland ‘big skies’ from the panoramic windows of The Gun Inn.

This is our vision for you.   Our bid deadline is 22nd December 2019...

Can you pledge money and help make it happen? We need your pledge NOW!  Click Here to go to our Pledge Page
